Both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic are aiming to be the starting goalkeeper at Inter next season, and there will be open competition for the starting spot between them.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that there is no clear favourite between the two keepers to be given the starting spot next season, and that it will be decided based on form.

Handanovic is all set to extend his contract past the end of this month and to stay on for another season, while Onana will arrive on a free transfer from Ajax as his long-term successor.

The current captain is not planning to stay purely as a backup while Onana settles in, whilst the Cameroonian is hoping that he will slot straight in to the team rather than sitting on the bench initially.

Things will be decided as far as which of the two starts as the season goes on and the coach observes the pair in training.
