Inter defender Milan Skriniar looks to have picked up a thigh problem while playing in the Slovak national team’s Nations league loss to Kazakhstan.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that further exams will be necessary to reveal the extent of the injury to what appear to be the 27-year-old’s thigh flexors.

Skriniar had to come off late in the first half of the Nations League group stage with what looked to be some thigh pain, and was seen in tears on the bench after he was substituted.

It remains to be seen how serious the problem is, although it could certainly rule the defender out of Slovakia’s last remaining group stage match of this international break, against Azerbaijan.

Skriniar will then be given some time off before the scheduled return to training with his club at the beginning of next month, although the injury problem could well delay his return.
