Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia will sign a two-year deal with Monza and will undergo medical examinations on Tuesday next week, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the Italian veteran defender will spend at least the next two seasons at Monza who have just been promoted to Serie A for the first time in their history.

He is expected to undergo medical examinations on Tuesday next week before the transfer is officially announced. The ambition of the club and the owner, Silvio Berlusconi, is what made the player want to join them.

There was a more lucrative offer on the table from Qatar but he chose to stay in Italy and try to keep Monza in the top flight.

Andrea Ranocchia has been at Inter for almost 11 years and was the captain for one of those seasons in the Nerazzurri.
