Monza are very keen on signing former Inter captain Mauro Icardi from Paris Saint-Germain for next season, and are hoping that the player’s relationship with CEO Adriano Galliani could be a key factor.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that Galliani is personally pushing for a deal with the 29-year-old, and that signing him on a paid loan deal from PSG is a major target for the newly-promoted team.

PSG are aiming to offload several players not in their plans for next season during the summer transfer window, and Icardi is one player who they are ready to part with.

Monza are one of the teams keenest on the Argentine, who would be a dream signing to bring the quality of their team up for life in the top flight following promotion from Serie B last season.

The structure of the deal could be a paid loan, whilst the French champions could still pay some of the striker’s €10 million net per season wages.

Galliani continues to have a good relationship with Icardi following his acting as an intermediary in the Argentine’s transfer to PSG from Inter in the summer of 2019, and hopes that he can personally convince him.
