Young Inter defender Alessandro Fontanarosa is happy to be included with the senior team in preseason because of what he can learn from senior figures.

Speaking in a press conference after the Nerazzurri’s friendly win over Lugano yesterday, as reported by FCInterNews, the 19-year-old noted defender Alessandro Bastoni as a player who he particularly looks up to, and also praised head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inter have included some players from the Primavera team that won the Under-19 championship last season in their preseason preparations, and Fontanarosa was given the honour of his first appearance in a full Nerazzurri shirt in the first friendly of the season.

The youngster still has some way to go as he takes his first steps into the senior game, but he is pleased to have been given the opportunity to do so surrounded by top players like Bastoni and under the guidance of a coach like Inzaghi.

“Bastoni is my idol,” he said, “I’m inspired by him and I’m lucky to be able to work closely with him.”

“Now I think about working and improving myself,” he continued then we’ll see what happens.”

“My focus is on the preseason retreat, we’ll see what happens next,” Fontanarosa went on. “Inzaghi helps us a lot, he trusts us, he made it clear to us today by letting us go out there on the pitch, he treats us like the other players and helps us to grow, I have no complaints.”
