AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has said that it is impossible not to concede against Inter but otherwise he is happy with how his team played on Saturday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with the press after the match against Inter at San Siro, via FCInter1908, the coach showed the respect that he holds for the attacking players at Inter as he made it clear he did not expect to get a clean sheet against the Nerazzurri.

The match ended 3-2 to AC Milan after they fell behind to Marcelo Brozovic’s early goal.

“Every game gave us a few more lessons. For 70 minutes it was a beautiful game. We cannot think of not conceding against such a strong opponent. We made the mistake of thinking the game was over.”

There was a suggestion made to the coach that the comments from former AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu made for a perfect form of motivation for the squad. He did not deny that that is how he used the comments from the Turkish player.

“I think it’s the coach’s job to touch the right keys, sometimes I use something of my own or some statements from others: it’s important to have a group that absorbs, that thinks.”
