Danilo D’Ambrosio could start in defense for Inter in this evening’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, taking the place of Stefan de Vrij.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that de Vrij could drop out of the starting eleven for the group stage opener, with Milan Skriniar shifting into the central position and D’Ambrosio playing on the right of the defense.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to make some significant squad rotations in this evening’s match, with all of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Robin Gosens, and Andre Onana set to come into the team for Nicolo Barella, Denzel Dumfries, and Samir Handanovic respectively.

Additional reporting closer to kickoff suggests that Inzaghi is indeed ready to start Onana for the first time in a competitive match this evening.

The coach could also decide to make an eye-catching change in defense as well, however, reacting to the team’s poor defensive display against AC Milan over the weekend.

If de Vrij were to drop out of the starting eleven, Skriniar would take his place at the heart of the back three, with D’Ambrosio trusted on the right of the defense.
