Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi believes that Inter allowed Bayern Munich to play through them too easily to create chances in Wednesday evening’s Champions League loss to the Bavarians.

Speaking as reported by FCInter1908, Pistocchi criticized the Nerazzurri both in terms of individual and collective displays for the ease with which the German champions were able to execute their attacks.

Bayern scored twice at the San Siro, and the feeling was that this didn’t flatter their performance at all based on the chances that they created, with goalkeeper Andre Onana if anything sparing his team’s blushes with a number of solid saves to keep the scoreline down.

The Bavarians are certainly considered to be one of the strongest attacking sides in Europe at the moment and so in this sense their attacking display was not a surprise.

However, in Pistocchi’s view part of the problem was also that Inter’s defensive setup was simply too yielding in how it allowed the away side to get into the final third and create chances.

“Bayern only needed three passes and then they were in front of the Inter goalkeeper,” he noted. “In this respect it’s not down to the quality of the coach, but of the players.”

“However, there are both factors to blame here,” he continued. “There is a coach without ideas and some overrated players.”
