Italian journalist Matteo Marani feels that Inter coach must ultimately decide between Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana to take the starting spot in goal.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marani gave the view that the Nerazzurri coach must make a decisive decision on whether to stick with the captain or swiftly transition to Onana in goal.

Both Handanovic and Onana have impressed in recent starts for Inter, the latter with his debut against Bayern Munich and the former with his math-saving display against Torino in Serie A yesterday evening.

The situation is an ambiguous one at the moment, as Onana has certainly been brought in to replace Handanovic in the long term, but at the moment the captain doesn’t look ready to step back just yet.

There is a possibility of alternating between the pair throughout the season, but Marani doesn’t feel that this would be a viable option.

“Handanovic did very well yesterday,” he noted. “Now, Simone Inzaghi must make a decision that’s final, does he go with Onana or stick with the captain?”
