Saudi Arabia have offered the Lega Serie A a deal worth €138 billion to host the Supercoppa Italiana until the 2028-29 season.
This according to Italian news outlet Milano Finanza, who report that the gulf state would be ready to nearly triple the value of the current deal in order to host it for the next seven seasons, also expanding it into a four-team format.
Inter participated in last season’s Supercoppa Italiana, winning in extra time against Juventus, and will also play in this season’s edition of the competition, facing city rivals AC Milan in January as representative winners of the Coppa Italia and Serie A respectively.
The match was held at the Stadio Olimpico last season after Saudi Arabi failed to agree a deal with the Lega Serie A, but this time around it will indeed be held in Saudi Arabia.
Moreover, the gulf state have made an offer to try and secure the competition until the 2028-29 campaign, which would also entail transitioning to a four-team format similar to that used by La Liga for the Spanish Supercopa.
The offer is for €138 million in total over the period, minus €23 in fees for travel and accommodations for the teams.
