Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s participation in the World Cup with Belgium is in doubt due to his thigh injury and he won’t be back for his club until after the international break.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 29-year-old’s thigh strain is serious enough that it could rule him out of part or all of the World Cup, and that he won’t be available for the Nerazzurri’s final matches before the break.
Inter confirmed today that Lukaku has suffered a strain to his left thigh.
The Belgian will certainly miss tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich due to the problem, whilst his participation in any of the three Serie A matches remaining before the Serie A break would be in serious doubt.
The Gazzetta has reported that not only is the 29-year-old set to miss these three Serie A matches, but that he could also be out injured during the World Cup with Belgian.
Accordingly, a return to the pitch for the Nerazzurri would not be likely for Lukaku until the return from the international break in January 2023 at the very earliest.
