Inter striker Romelu Lukaku could already be back from the thigh strain he’s suffered in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Bologna.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 29-year-old may not be out for much longer than a couple of matches depending on how severe tests determine the injury to be.

Inter confirmed today that Lukaku has suffered another strain to his left thigh.

The injury will certainly rule the Belgian out of tomorrow’s trip to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage, and according to Sky there is also no chance of him returning for Sunday’s Serie A match against Juventus.

However, according to the broadcaster it is not certain that the injury will be serious enough to see Lukaku miss a significant amount of time.

Sky reports that the injury looks to have occurred due to the Belgian pushing himself a little to hard to get back to full match fitness after coming back from a thigh strain that had seen him miss two months of action.

It is not yet certain that the injury will cause Lukaku to be a doubt for the World Cup, or even all of Inter’s matches prior to the World Cup break.

The striker’s fitness will be assessed sometime shortly after next weekend.

It cannot be ruled out that the 29-year-old will be able to return to the pitch for the Nerazzurri’s next match after their clash with Juventus, a league fixture against Bologna at the San Siro.
