Sporting Defensor scout German Sixto feels that Inter-linked defender Alan Matturro has the qualities to make it at a top club in Europe.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, Sixto hailed the 18-year-old’s potential and maturity, and suggested that he could become a player like former Juventus defender Paolo Montero.

Inter have been strongly linked with a move for Matturro over the past few weeks.

Reports have stated that the Nerazzurri are convinced by what they’ve seen based on scouting the young Uruguayan.

Inter are reportedly ready to make an offer to try and sign the 18-year-old from Sporting Defensor, and in so doing bet on his quality to reinforce their defensive ranks in the long term.

For his part, Sixto fully backs Matturro, and feels that former Bianconeri and Atalanta defender Montero could be a significant frame of reference for the potential that he has.

Asked what Matturro’s most outstanding qualities are, Sixto named “Personality, technique, and reading of the game.”

“He made his Uruguayan top flight debut at the age of seventeen, and he looked like he’s always been playing there.”

The scout noted that “He doesn’t feel the pressure, and he has grown a lot physically.”

Asked if there’s a player he would compare Matturro to, Sixto said “That’s a hard question, and while they are quite different physically, he has the character and technique similar to Montero, I hope he can reach that level.”

Asked if he’s spoke with Matturro about the transfer links to the Nerazzurri, Sixto replied that “No, when I see him I generally prefer to talk about his past and his time in the youth academy.”

And asked whether he believes that the 18-year-old is ready for a club like Inter, he said that “We all have a lot of faith in him.”

“He just turned eighteen, but he’s already been one of the best defenders in our league.”

“He marked Luis Suarez like he was just playing backyard football, without the pressure weighing on him at all,” Sixto said of Matturro.

“Our hope is that wherever he goes, he can continue to grow, adapt, and mature,” he concluded. “He certainly has the ability and the personality to do it.”
