Legendary former Inter defender Ivan Cordoba feels that it would be an ambition for him to return to the Nerazzurri in a directorial role, but for now he still has to cut his teeth.

Speaking to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the current Venezia Sporting Director noted that he still has a lot of growth to do.

Cordoba is currently the Sporting Director of Venezia in Serie B, where the former defender is starting to learn what it takes to work behind the scenes at a football club.

The Colombian certainly proved himself on the pitch throughout his more than a decade at Inter.

Cordoba doesn’t hide that he would like to return to the Nerazzurri at some point in the future to continue writing his story at the club.

However, at the moment, he is nowhere near as experienced as an executive as he was as a player, and still needs to find his feet in his new role.

“Many people are surprised I’m at Venezia and not at Inter,” Cordoba said.

“I’m not. I’m still training as a manager.”

“If I’m to return to Inter one day, I’d like to be prepared for it,” he explained.

“I took the Sporting Director course, I took the coaching course, I did a master’s degree at Bocconi. For now, I like what I’m doing.”

The Colombian noted that “I’m putting my soul into it.”

As far as a possible return to Inter, Cordoba said that “I have to finish my journey first. My mentality has never changed, I want to feel ready.”
