Gzira United head coach Darren Abdilla feels that Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani cam become a top-level player.

Speaking to Italian news outlet L’Interista, the coach praised the 20-year-old who he saw in action in a friendly match against his own team on Monday evening.

Asllani started Inter’s friendly clash with Gzira United on Monday in midfield.

The Albanian former Empoli midfielder showed his quality as he pulled the strings in midfield as the Nerazzurri beat the Maltese team by an emphatic 6-1 scoreline.

So far, Asllani has had his opportunities in Inter’s first team limited, with only a few starts since joining from Empoli during the summer transfer window.

However, the 20-year-old’s quality is clearly evident when he is given the chance to play.

This is certainly the view of Gzira United coach Abdilla, who feels that it will not be too long before the Albanian becomes a really top midfielder.

“Asllani is a top-class player in the making,” the coach said.

“Soon I expect he’ll become a star on a European level,” he added, “and give more competition to Marcelo Brozovic.”
