Paris Saint-Germain wingback Achraf Hakimi has never stopped dreaming of making a return to Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 24-year-old Moroccan has confessed to former teammates that he’d like to come back, in a similar return to that of striker Romelu Lukaku.

After the Moroccan national team’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain to reach the World Cup quarterfinals, in which Hakimi scored the decisive spot kick, the former Nerazzurri player was heard shouting “Forza Inter Sempre!” during the celebrations.

The Corriere reports that this was only a reflection of a continued commitment to the Nerazzurri ever since Hakimi left the club in a big money move to PSG in the summer of 2021.

Despite the fact that the Moroccan had spent just one season with Inter, his time at the club made an impression on him as he helped the Nerazzurri to their first Serie A title in eleven years.

According to the Corriere, Hakimi keeps in touch with many of his former teammates, and remains close with Lautaro Martinez in particular.

With the Argentine, Hakimi has confessed that he would like to one day return to the Nerazzurri.

Bringing the Moroccan back from the French capital would of course be difficult, given that he transferred for a significant transfer fee in 2021 and his market value has hardly decreased.

Even if Hakimi would harbour hopes of coming back to replace Denzel Dumfries, who had himself replaced the Moroccan on Inter’s right flank in the summer of 2021, it is unlikely that even the most optimistic asking price for Dumfries would be able to fund a move for Hakimi.

However, the Corriere reports, a return to Inter is still a hope that Hakimi has.

The 24-year-old was inspired by the push that striker Romelu Lukaku made to return to Inter last summer.

Unlike Lukaku, Hakimi’s form has not dropped off since making his big move in the summer of 2021.

On the contrary, the 24-year-old remains a key player for the Parisians under current coach Christophe Galtier, just as he had done under Mauricio Pochettino.

Accordingly, it could be difficult for the Nerazzurri to ever convince PSG to allow a sale of Hakimi.

Nevertheless, from the player’s perspective, a return to Inter remains a dream.
