Former Inter, Bologna, and Roma Sporting Director Walter Sabatini feels that the Nerazzurri should certainly extend the contract of striker Edin Dzeko.

Speaking to the Twitch channel of SOS Fanta, via FCInter1908, the executive spoke highly of the Bosnian, who he argued would deserve a lifetime contract.

Dzeko joined Inter from Roma in the summer of 2021, by which point the former Manchester City and Wolfsburg striker was already aged 35.

The Bosnian had gained a top reputation for himself within the Italian game with his performances for the Giallorossi.

Dzeko has only continued to build on this in his approximately a season and a half with the Nerazzurri.

The 36-year-old’s current deal with Inter is set to run out at the end of June 2023, although reports have suggested that the club are keen to secure his future with a contract extension.

For his part, Sabatini has very little doubt about whether this would be the right move.

“I love him, so don’t even ask me that,” he said. “I’d give him a lifetime contract extension.”

“He’s a great player and a wonderful person.”

“Look at how intelligent he is, he could solve any puzzle,” Sabatini said of Dzeko.

“He plays for the team with a great sense of the game, he comes deep to get on the ball, links up with teammates, moves the ball on, builds up play when it’s needed and finishes off moves when it’s the right time to do so.”

“As long as his body is able to, Dzeko has to play at the highest level because his intelligence allows him to.”
