Legendary former Napoli and AC Milan midfielder Nando De Napoli feels that if Inter were to lose this evening to the Partenopei, it could make the most sense for them to go all-in on their Champions League campaign.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former midfielder gave his thoughts on how the Nerazzurri should approach the rest of the season.

If Inter were to take three points off of league leaders Napoli this evening, then the sense would certainly be that their title charge is back on in the league.

On the other hand, a failure to do so, and particularly a loss, would see the Scudetto look increasingly out of reach.

In the Champions League, on the other hand, the script is yet to be written, with Inter having a round of sixteen tie against Porto just on the way.

De Napoli argued that “If Inter lose this evening then they can say goodbye to the Scudetto, I think it would be better for them to go all-in on the Champions League.”

“They go into the round of sixteen with a tough nut to crack already in Porto,” he added.

De Napoli stated that “As a football lover I hope that Inzaghi can get the team back to their best soon, as I love to watch them play.”

The former midfielder also noted that for Inter, “Brozovic is a big miss, he’s usually their midfield metronome.”

“I think that Inzaghi will have to ask Calhanoglu to drop a few metres deeper than usual.”
