Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, and Barcelona’s Memphis Depay could be among Inter’s targets if they do not extend Romelu Lukaku’s loan in the summer.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri’s Plan A is still to keep the 29-year-old, but that the trio would be among the players who could replace him, as are several younger options.
According to the Gazzetta, Inter’s first choice would still be to agree a new loan deal with Chelsea for Lukaku going into next season.
However, should the Belgian’s persistent injury struggles mean that the Nerazzurri decide not to extend his loan, then they will be prepared.
Firmino could be available on a free transfer at the end of June, although Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp is keen to extend the Brazilian’s deal.
Meanwhile, Thuram and Depay are two other forwards who could be targeted on free transfers at the end of June.
Lorient’s Tarem Moffi and Genk’s Paul Onuachu are two younger names on the Nerazzurri’s list, whilst Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha would return from his loan with Wolverhampton Wanderers if they are relegated from the Premier League and could be available.
Cunha has been a player that Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has been a big fan of since his time with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.
