Inter striker Edin Dzeko feels that the team all contributed their part to secure an emphatic 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana this evening.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, via FCInterNews, the 36-year-old gave his reaction to the match, and also joked that given his current form, he can’t be older than 22.
Dzeko proved to be the Nerazzurri’s hero in the first half against Milan, with the Bosnian instrumental in helping to set up the team’s first goal before taking their second extremely well.
The former Roma and Manchester City once again proved his enduring quality and how indispensable he can be for this Inter team.
However, it was a true team effort by the Nerazzurri who outplayed their city rivals physically, technically, and tactically all over the pitch and on both sides of the ball.
For his part, Dzeko is proud of how Inter went out on to the pitch and fought for the result, and their first piece of silverware of the season.
“We played a great match,” the Bosnian said, “the guys did brilliantly and everyone gave their all from the first minute.”
Asked if this was partly revenge for some recent defeats to the Rossoneri in the derby, Dzeko replied “There’s nothing like that, I’m only ever looking forward, just like the rest of the team.”
“We were playing with a trophy at stake that we won last season, so we know how much it means to win it,” he added.
“We prepared as well as we could to go out and win it.”
When jokingly asked how old he really is, the Bosnian joked that “I’ll be 22 soon,” with a laugh.
And when asked about the future, given that his current contract with Inter expires at the end of June, Dzeko responded that “Let’s not think about that right now.”
“Now it’s time for us to celebrate with our fans who we’ve managed to give something to cheer about, and then later there will be time to think about what comes next,” Dzeko concluded.
