Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that right now the team’s priority is just to enjoy the well-earned celebrations after winning the Supercoppa Italiana.

Speaking in a press conference after the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over city rivals AC Milan, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach noted that the team will enjoy the win, and then shift their focus to the challenges to come over the rest of a busy season.

Inter have now gotten their hands on some silverware at the first time of asking this season, lifting the Supercoppa at the expense of the Rossoneri.

This will naturally be an occasion for Inzaghi and his players to savour, not least because it came in a derby.

However, there won’t be much times for the team to rest on their laurels, as starting from next Monday’s Serie A clash at home to Empoli Inzaghi and his players will have a gruelling fixture list in the league, the Coppa Italia, and in the Champions League.

“We work to [always play as the team did against Milan],” Inzaghi said after the match, “these are the kinds of evenings that remain for us.”

“This is my third trophy at an top club in Inter.”

Of the fitness of striker Romelu Lukaku, Inzaghi said that “Everyone seems to be doing quite well.”

“Romelu has worked over the past few days, where he’s wanted to be ready for this evening at all costs, even if he’s not fully at his best.”

“Tonight he would have been an option for us, even if just as a last resort, but then the match didn’t go in a way that we ended up needing him,” he said of the striker.

“Let’s see if he’s ready to be on the pitch against Empoli,” Inzaghi said of Lukaku.

Of the performances from strikers Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko, the coach said that “They were very good, beyond the goals they scored which are obviously very important, they did very well.”

“They were also rewarded with goals, and then I think Correa also did well when he came on,” Inzaghi added.

“Now we’re also waiting for Lukaku to be ready.”

“My hope is to have all four available soon,” the coach said of his options at the striker positions.

“I’m confident for Lukaku based on how I see him doing in training on a daily basis,” he added.
