Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team were playing their best period of the match when they conceded in their 0-1 defeat at the hands of Empoli in Serie A.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the coach gave his reaction to a match which saw the Nerazzurri slump to their sixth league defeat of the campaign.

Inzaghi will have certainly hoped for his team to have produced a better performance than the one that they did against Empoli.

The red card to defender Milan Skriniar during the first half was certainly a factor, although even before then nothing seemed to be going right for Inzaghi’s players.

However, the Nerazzurri did go out during the second half trying to take the game to Empoli even despite their numerical disadvantage, and from the perspective of the coach, the goal that they conceded came as something of a sucker punch.

“We didn’t approach the match the way we usually do, it was a long match,” he said afterwards.

“Then there was the sending-off which complicated our plans,” he continued, “we were unable to make the changes we wanted, then we were managing the match well, but during our best period when we were in control we conceded from a counterattack.”

“Now we have to put this behind us right away, we have another difficult match on the way and we have to just keep looking forward,” Inzaghi added.
