Inter showed once again that they are virtually a different team between league and cup competitions with their shock 0-1 loss at the hands of Empoli in Serie A yesterday evening.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the Nerazzurri’s Jekyll and Hyde form was on full display compared to how the team played against AC Milan last week.

Inter produced one of their best performances of the season to dispatch city rivals Milan 3-0 in the Supercoppa Italiana less than one week ago.

However, far from keeping this momentum going, the Nerazzurri looked out of sorts from virtually the first whistle against Empoli in their very next match.

As the Corriere notes, this is not the first time that Inter have saved their heroics for knockout matches and then looked a disappointing shadow of themselves in the league.

Last season Inter won the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia but missed out on the league title, whilst this time the team’s season has been marked positively by their heroics in the Champions League even as their league form has been erratic.
