Atalanta defender Merih Demiral is Inter’s preferred replacement for Milan Skriniar in the event that the Slovakian departs before the transfer deadline.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 24-year-old is valued at around €20 million and that he is preferred ahead of Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos and Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard.

Inter’s strategy is in place as they wait to see whether or not Paris Saint-Germain will make an adequate offer for Skriniar on the final day of the January transfer window.

Demiral has been clearly identified as the player who the Nerazzurri will go all in to sign should they feel that PSG have raised their offer for Skriniar enough to sell.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta reports, the likes of former Arsenal defender Mavropanos and World Cup winner Pavard are lined up as alternatives in the event that a swoop for Demiral does not pan out.
