Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the Nerazzurri were far and away the better side in their 1-0 Serie A win over AC Milan in the derby this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old stressed that it was a one-sided match in his view, and made clear that his only commitment is to Inter.

The last time Inter and Milan met it was in the Supercoppa Italiana last month, and on that occasion the Nerazzurri dismantled their city rivals by a scoreline of 3-0.

This time around, the scoreline was not so emphatic as Inter had to settle for a 1-0 victory and the Rossoneri felt that they were in with a chance until the final whistle.

However, watching how the two sides played, there was little question that it was Inter who were in control for the majority of the match, particularly in a very one-sided first half.

“I think that tonight our mentality, heart, and motivations were what made the difference,” Dimarco said after the match.

“We put everything out on the pitch, and there was no contest between us.”

“I think we played a great game in all respects, there was no contest from start to finish.”

Asked what he is feeling in his heart, Dimarco replied “The Nerazzurri and that’s it!”

Asked if he feels that he is at his best playing at wingback rather than on the left of a back three, Dimarco replied “Absolutely.”

“Without taking anything away from Ivan Perisic, who had an amazing season last time around, we are two different players, this season we attack differently with Bastoni and Mkhitaryan and myself.”
