Inter currently have the highest debt in Serie A, with the Nerazzurri surpassing Juventus as owing the most in the Italian top flight.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s debt currently sits at €390 million, with the Nerazzurri joined by Juventus and Roma in making up the bulk of total amounts owed by Serie A clubs.

The Bianconeri owe €223m, but this has been brought down by €250m thanks to a €400m capital increase in December 2021, whilst Roma’s debt stands at €271m.

Overall, Serie A clubs have a combined debt of €1.068 billion, with AC Milan owing €71m, whilst league leaders Napoli are currently financially in the black.

It is a similar picture across Europe, with the top five leagues across the continent owing a combined €7.5b in bank debts, as well as a further €2.5b to internal lenders.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona owe €967m and €841m, whilst is there is a total debt of €1.9b in the Premier League.
