Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is set to make his first appearance since October, as he is called up for this evening’s Serie A match against former club Udinese.

According to Italian television broadcaster Sport Mediaset, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the Slovenian shot-stopper will be named amongst the starters at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza by coach Simone Inzaghi.

Handanovic lost his place in the team to summer recruit Andre Onana in October and has not featured since, but will face the Zebrette after overcoming a recent injury.

In addition to Onana being rested ahead of a crucial Champions League clash against Porto on Wednesday, Handanovic is also likely to play to add some much-needed leadership to the team.

The club captain is expected to marshal the team on the pitch, with Inzaghi identifying a lack of leaders during the goalless draw against Sampdoria last time out.

Similarly, the match is viewed as an opportunity for Handanovic to make amends for a poor performance against Udinese at the Dacia Arena in a 3-1 defeat in September, in which he was at fault for all three goals.
