Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni will not be fit for Sunday evening’s Serie A match against Juventus.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the thigh problem that the 23-year-old suffered in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Porto will rule him out for this weekend’s match but that he hopes to return against Fiorentina.

Medical tests have confirmed the presence of a thigh strain picked up during the second half of Tuesday’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Porto for Bastoni.

According to the Corriere, there is no doubt that the recovery time for the injury will be lengthy enough that there is no chance of the defender being available for this weekend’s league match against the Bianconeri.

Rather, the newspaper report, the Nerazzurri’s hope will be to have Bastoni back in time for their Serie A match against Fiorentina at the start of next month after the international break, although that is far from certain.
