Former AC Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus, and England coach Fabio Capello believes that Inter are more than capable of getting past Benfica in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former coach gave the view that it will come down to how the Nerazzurri approach the matches.

Whilst Inter will not be underestimating Portuguese league-leaders Benfica, they will be well aware of the fact that they have avoided some of Europe’s real heavy-hitters in the quarterfinal stage of the Champions League, at least on paper.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri will not go into the two-legged tie against the Lisbon-based team as underdogs.

Whilst this is undoubtedly a positive thing for Inter in some sense, it does also mean that there is some pressure on them, and they will have to figure out how to get their approach right over the two legs.

“Inter will go through, but only if they play serious football,” Capello argued.

The former coach argued of the Nerazzurri that “They’re still the strongest Italian team, at least in terms of their potential.”
