Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the goal that decided this evening’s Serie A match against Juventus should never have been given.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach was scathing in his assessment, arguing that the handball by Bianconeri midfielder Adrien Rabiot should clearly have nullified the goal.

Inter conceded the only goal of the match in this evening’s Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus to Bianconeri wingback Filip Kostic, and whilst there was nothing wrong with the Serb’s strike, there was no shortage of controversy concerning Rabiot’s involvement in the goal.

The Frenchman had appeared to handle the ball in the buildup to Kostic’s goal, as he linked up with striker Dusan Vlahovic to feed the ball to Kostic.

A lengthy VAR check did not disallow the goal, however, as it was evidently decided that Rabiot’s handball was either not intentional or was incidental to the goal.

Inzaghi could not disagree more, however, arguing that “We conceded a blatantly illegal goal that clearly directed the outcome of the match, to me that’s unacceptable.”

Of the match “It wasn’t easy, they defended deep in their own half, and despite what had happened in the first half we created some chances.”

“We could have drawn a match but instead it went the way of Juve because of one incident,” he added.

“The final result does not reflect what we saw in the pitch,” Inzaghi said.

“We made a few technical errors, but so did Juve,” the coach argued.

“We came into it off the back of a cycle of intense matches and we had some injuries, Dimarco had to come off as well,” he noted.

“But the individual moments can make the difference, and what happened is unacceptable.”

Of the international break, Inzaghi said that “We’ll be in training with those who stay, we’ll work to regain our fitness.”

“We have another incredibly tough run of matches ahead of us, and we’ll have to be ready.”
