An Argentine journalist has made the claim that Inter will attempt to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi.

Making the claim in a tweet, journalist Sergio A. Gonzalez suggested that Nerazzurri Vice-President Javier Zanetti could be a key factor in this prospective move to bring in the legendary former Barcelona man in a shock move.

Whilst the links between Inter and Messi have certainly never come to anything very concrete in the past, the fact remains that the Argentine has been name sometimes suggested to be a dream target for the Nerazzurri.

According to Argentine journalist Gonzalez, this interest in bringing in the World Cup winner remains.

Gonzalez claims that Inter Vice-President and legendary former Inter captain and Argentine international Zanetti could be the man who makes the deal happen.

Moreover, the Argentine journalist suggests that Messi’s contract extension talks with his current club PSG are stalling and that this could push him towards the Giuseppe Meazza.

He tweeted, “Early morning Messi bombshell. A reliable source tells me that Inter intend to sign Leo.”

“Zanetti would be a factor,” he continues.

“Contract extension talks are deadlocked in Paris, Barca are restricted by FFP and seemingly on the River Thebes – Will Pupi [Zanetti] manage to get him?”
