The Academy Director of Argentine club Tigre feels that there is a real chance that striker Mateo Retegui could join a club in Serie A amid transfer links to Inter.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Tigre executive Fabio Radaelli suggested that “the conditions are there” for the 23-year-old to make the switch to the Italian top flight, and also predicted that he could pair up well with Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez.

Retegui’s ascent has been rapid, as he has become the top scorer in the Argentine top flight so far this season and already earned two caps for the Italian national team, from which he has scored two goals.

This has earned the attention of any number of clubs.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Retegui has been on Inter’s radar for a while, but that his price tag has risen sharply since the Nerazzurri began tracking him, to around €20 million.

Meanwhile, the likes of Udinese, Lazio, Atalanta, and AC Milan are other Serie A clubs that have been linked.

Interest in Retegui’s signature is hardly confined to the Italian top flight, with Atletico Madrid widely linked, whilst Bundesliga duo Eintracht Frankurt and Bayer Leverkusen reportedly having made contact.

Additionally, the Premier League is another possible destination, with West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion both linked.

Regarding the possibility of a move away for the striker, Tigre Academy Director Radaelli revealed that “The conditions are certainly all there for us to see him in Italy.”

“We’ll calmly evaluate his future,” the executive continued.

Asked if Retegui can follow the same as Inter striker Martinez, Radaelli replied by describing the Nerazzurri man as “One of the best in the world.”

“He’s a great asset for Inter,” he continued.

“Mateo is still a young player but there’s a lot of talk around him.”

Of the possibility of a strike partnership between Martinez and Retegui, Radaelli feels that “That would be brilliant to see.”
