Inter wingback Federico Dimarco will not be risked in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina due to injury.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 25-year-old will be left out of the squad due to the fact that he is not deemed to have sufficiently recovered from an abdominal injury.

Dimarco has been working to get back to fitness following an abdominal injury sustained during Inter’s Serie A match against Juventus right before the international break.

The issue meant that, despite being called up for the Italian national team for EURO 2024 qualifiers during the break, the Nerazzurri wingback had to withdraw from the squad and return to Milan to work on his recovery.

The 25-year-old had returned to full training earlier this week along with Alessandro Bastoni and Robin Gosens, but it was reported that a decision on his availability for tomorrow evening’s match against Fiorentina would be left until the eleventh hour.

According to the Gazzetta, there is little doubt now that Dimarco will not be called up for tomorrow evening’s match.

The 25-year-old is not deemed to be fit enough to play without risking reinjury.

Given the fact that Inter have so many matches on the way, with nine matches scheduled in the space of just thirty days in the month of April, a more serious injury to a key player like Dimarco is the last thing that the Nerazzurri would need.

Dimarco has emerged as a key player for the Nerazzurri this season, as he has made the left-sided wingback role his own after the departure since the departure of Ivan Perisic.

The 25-year-old has made a total of 37 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

However, it will be Robin Gosens who starts in tomorrow evening’s match on Inter’s left flank.

Dimarco’s importance to the Nerazzurri was recently highlighted by former Parma and Sampdoria coach Roberto D’Aversa.
