Inter wingback Robin Gosens has admitted that Inter are responsible for their own bad form, and must be the ones to improve things.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the German stressed that the Nerazzurri have to “clean up their own mess” by playing like the real Nerazzurri, starting with this evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against Juventus.

Inter have been in dreadful form in Serie A, with three losses in a row, and four from their last five matches, making it ten total defeats in the league.

There is little doubt that this isn’t good enough.

If Inter want to look around to try and assign blame for the situation, there is really only themselves to look at, and Gosens doesn’t try to hide this fact.

The team’s form has been the result of a sequence of frustrating and below-par performances, he acknowledges, and now they have to immediately start trying to do better.

Asked whether rumours about the future have affected things behind the scenes, Gosens said that “There are always rumours.”

“When you win, you’re happy, and when you’re at Inter you always have to win because the team is strong enough to do so.”

“But we made this mess, and we have to sort it out,” he added.

“Rumours give me the right sort of anger to fire me up so I improve, especially playing in front of our fans,” Gosens said.

“In the end, we’ve tried to stay positive,” he said of the team’s reaction.

“This is a fundamentally important match for us and it could change our entire situation around,” he added.

“We haven’t spoken too much, but what we’ve said is that we have to get back to really being Inter, being a united team.”

“That’s the only way we can get results, including in the rest of the upcoming matches which will also be massive for us,” the 28-year-old said.
