Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has some changes in mind both in terms of the starting eleven and the tactical approach that will be used against Juventus in this evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are set to use a more counterattacking style of play, and that experienced duo Samir Handanovic and Danilo D’Ambrosio will start.

In two league meetings with Juventus so far this season, Inter have lost twice and not managed to score a goal.

Clearly this could be enough to prompt a rethink from Inzaghi.

In the two league matches against the Bianconeri, Inter had the majority of possession of the ball on both occasions, but struggled to do anything useful with it.

Accordingly, the Corriere reports, Inzaghi is likely to decide to switch to a more counterattacking style of play.

The coach is hoping that by sitting back and waiting for the Bianconeri to attack them, the Nerazzurri can find more space to attack than in the league meetings in which they have looked ineffective at breaking down the Bianconeri’s organized defensive structure.

Moreover, Inzaghi is also hoping that the same is true going in the other direction, and that his team will not be left vulnerable to Juventus on the counter.

Max Allegri’s team looked dangerous in exploiting the gaps at the back throughout both league meetings.

Meanwhile, the Corriere report that Inzaghi will start captain Handanovic as well as defender D’Ambrosio in this evening’s match.

In midfield, Kristjan Asllani will be given a rare start at the base of the trio alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Nicolo Barella.

The Corriere’s complete predicted eleven is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro.
