Inter Milan duo Hakan Calhanoglu and Milan Skriniar could be fit to play in the Champions League return leg against Benfica at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on April 19th, kick-off scheduled for 21.00 CET.

Regarding the Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu, today’s print edition of Milan based Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported via FCInterNews, states that he’s begun training on the pitch as opposed to just rehab training.

However, the report continues that there is no chance the former AC Milan midfielder plays any part in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal this coming Tuesday on May 11th at 21.00 CET at the Estadio da Luz.

Instead, the fact that Calhanoglu has begun training on the pitch again ignites a tiny hope that he can feature in some capacity for the return leg at the San Siro on April 19th.

The same discourse applied to Slovakian international defender Milan Skriniar, where Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, as per FcInterNews, provided an update on his recovery moments ago on air.

According to that report, Skriniar is making progress just like Calhanoglu is, in the recovery process from his injury and there is hope he can take part in the return leg at the San Siro in just over a fortnight’s time.

Lautaro Martinez & Edin Dzeko Favorites To Start

However, as stated, both players will definitely miss the first clash on Tuesday night due to injury but Sky Sport Italia sheds some light on who could start up front for the Nerazzurri against Benfica.

Currently Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko are the favorites to start the game for Inter with Romelu Lukaku most likely beginning the tie on the bench, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Belgian international striker Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan from Chelsea, could yet start the game as coach Simone Inzaghi is yet to make his final decision.
