Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi feels that the situations of too many Inter players are uncertain, and that it is affecting the team’s mentality and performances.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri captain argued that the mood of uncertainty around the future has been one of the team’s biggest problems as it starts to distract the players.

At a stage of the season where everything is do-or-die for Inter in the run-in, it will be vital for the players to keep their focus individually and their cohesion as a group.

In this sense, off-the-pitch distractions like contract extension or transfer talk is hardly ideal.

Even apart from the fact that Milan Skriniar, a key player at the back for Inter, already knows that his future past the end of June is in Paris with PSG, there are numerous other situations where players cannot be certain.

Striker Edin Dzeko’s contract talks with the Nerazzurri reportedly hinge on whether or not the team qualify for the Champions League next season.

Then, there’s the fact that the situations of players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni are also currently on standby amid uncertainty about the financial future and the Champions League.

Then there is Marcelo Brozovic, who has been reported to be very likely to depart at the end of the season, the result of tensions which have been growing between he and the club since the World Cup.

In the view of Bergomi, all of these types of situations have started to mount into a real problem for the Nerazzurri that has started to spill onto the pitch.

“At the Nerazzurri there are too many situations that are up in the air,” the former Inter defender said.

“I’m thinking of the cases of Skriniar, Brozovic, Dumfries, and then I hear that de Vrij isn’t happy and that Acerbi doesn’t know if he’s staying.”

“But at the same time, now is not the right time to talk, there’s an important two months ahead and so these situations should remain under wraps,” Bergomi added.
