Bologna coach Thiago Motta is a bit coy regarding his future, with transfer links to Inter having been floating around for at least a couple weeks.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Gazzett.it, the Rossoblu coach stressed that he is only focused on his current job at the moment, and admitted that he finds the influx of praise that he’s been receiving for the job that he’s been doing to be a bit excessive.

Motta has come in for significant praise for the work that he has been doing since taking over at Bologna from Sinisa Mihajlovic following the Serb’s illness during the fall.

The former Inter and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder had already earned a fairly positive reputation for the job that he did with Spezia last season, whilst there had also been a brief spell in charge of his old club Genoa the season before then.

However, it has been at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara where Motta has really started to find his feet in coaching.

Based only on the matches played since the winter break, the Emilians would be sixth in the Serie A table, a testament to the work that Motta has done since his arrival.

The Rossoblu even grabbed an eye-catching victory over Motta’s former club Inter, with whom the ex-Italian international won the European Treble in 2010.

Motta‘s name has been one of those most strongly linked with Inter in recent weeks given the uncertainty around the future of current boss Inzaghi on the Nerazzurri bench.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Bologna are keen to extend Motta’s contract from the end of next June by a further season, until the end of June 2025, with Inter and PSG lurking.

Asked about what he’s thinking about regarding his future, the coach replied that “I’m just thinking about Milan [the Rossoblu’s next match], and then if we keep working every day then we can grow more and more and start to have ambition.”

And regarding the praise that he’s been receiving in recent weeks, the coach replied that “It’s all a bit too much,” with a laugh.”

“As far as the character and personality goes, all the credit for that can go to the guys,” he said, emphasizing the role that his players have had in the team’s recent success over his own work.
