Tottenham Hotspur wingback Ivan Perisic is keen to make the return to Inter, just one season after his departure from the club on a free transfer at the end of last June.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old would like to rejoin the Nerazzurri, and has already made calls about it as he presses more insistently to try and make the move happen.

Perisic left Inter last summer when his contract ran out, with the club having failed to convince the Croatian World Cup start to extend his deal.

The former Wolfsburg man decided to try his luck in the Premier League, linking up with former Inter coach Antonio Conte in North London.

However, things have not exactly gone according to plan for Perisic at Spurs, with the Premier League side teetering on the edge of failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League as Conte left during the international break.

Accordingly, Tuttosport reports, Perisic is keen to go back to Inter, and has made his desire known to the Nerazzurri.

The Corriere dello Sport provides further confirmation that Perisic is keen to make the switch back to the Nerazzurri, with whom he spent six seasons.

Perisic joined Inter in 2015, making 255 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The Croat also spent the 2019-20 season on loan with Bayern Munich.

Whilst at Inter, Perisic won the Serie A title, the Supercoppa Italiana, and the Coppa Italiana trophies, all in his final two campaigns with the club.

According to Tuttosport, one of the main stumbling blocks in the way of a potential return for the 34-year-old to the Giuseppe Meazza would be the €6 million net per season wages that he earns at Tottenham.

However, the newspaper suggests, a deal could be brought within reach by spreading his wages over two seasons.
