Siena Sporting Director Massimo Tarantino has poured some cold water on the rumours linking him to Inter to replace Roberto Samaden as the head of the Nerazzurri’s youth academy.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the 51-year-old stressed that at the moment his only focus is on his current club, even in spite of the fact that it has been reported that he is the man who will take the place of Samaden when the latter steps down at the end of this season.

Former Bologna and Roma Academy Manager and former SPAL Technical Director Tarantino has been the name reported to be front of the queue to replace Samaden when the 56-year-old steps down from his role at the Nerazzurri at the end of the season.

Samaden is anticipated to leave Inter when his contract with the club runs out at the end of June, with reports suggesting that he is all ready to join their Serie A rivals Atalanta.

Tarantino has been the main name linked as a possible replacement in the past few days, ahead of SPAL Academy Manager Andrea Catellani.

The former SPAL academy manager had been reported to be the favourite to take on the role for some time, but now it’s being reported that it will instead be a former executive with the Emilian club who replaces Samaden.

Tarantino had held the role of Technical Director at SPAL until the end of June 2022, and then took on the role of Sporting Director at Siena in January of this year.

However, the 51-year-old’s time at Siena is reportedly already set to come to an end, as he will make the switch to Inter to become the new head of the youth academy.

However, Tarantino himself was asked about his future, and replied that “I don’t know what will happen, but I’m just focused on Siena – in January they gave me a great opportunity, and so now I’m thinking about the playoffs.”
