Legendary former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid striker Christian Vieri feels that Nerazzurri duo Andre Onana and Marcelo Brozovic should have been allowed to fight it out during their training ground bust-up yesterday.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, via FCInter1908, the former striker suggested that the two players should’ve been allowed to express themselves in their confrontation yesterday, and that it can be a positive thing to get fired up for this evening’s match against Benfica.

Yesterday in training, Onana and Brozovic got into a brief shoving match after the midfielder had been evidently displeased with the force of a challenge by the goalkeeper during a training exercise.

There did not appear to be much in it between the two players, either in terms of hard feelings or a real physical altercation.

However, the incident did show how tempers and emotions are heating up in the squad amid a frantic final few weeks to the season.

The two players were quickly pulled apart by teammates who made sure that they did not get too frustrated, but from Vieri’s perspective there was little reason to break them apart.

“It’s better that they almost came to blows,” the former striker argued of the training ground bust-up.

“When my teammates argued, I pretended like I was trying to pull them apart, but then I’d just let them fight it out,” he added from his own experience.

Vieri added that “We need that spark, the players also know how important of a match it will be against Benfica.”

The Nerazzurri have the chance this evening to book their place in the semifinals of the Champions League, where they would meet city rivals AC Milan.

Inter have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg against Benfica, but they will still be in for a massively challenging match.
