Inter President Steven Zhang has denied the rumours that a sale of the club by Suning could be just on the horizon.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President stressed that from his perspective, there is little substance to the suggestions that the Nerazzurri could be sold, whilst he also reacted to the team reaching the Champions League semifinals.

Rumours that Suning could sell Inter have been persistent virtually since the beginning of the post-pandemic financial troubles at the club.

However, in the last few weeks the rumour mill has really been in full swing, with a couple of specific potential bidders prominently linked.

One is Bahrain-based fund InvestCorp, whilst it has also been reported that current Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani could be weighing up a bid.

However, the man who is currently in charge at Inter has downplayed these rumours by stressing that he is still working to get the best results for the club, and not focusing on trying to sell it.

“As long as I’m here, I’ll fight to win and stay on top in every competition,” the Nerazzurri President said, “the league, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League.”

“We want to reach the final in every competition,” he added.

“This has been what I work towards, and also all the staff.”

And of the rumours that there could be talks on a potential sale, Zhang emphasized that “I haven’t had any talks with anyone, everyone here at the club works to win.”

Of what reaching the semifinals of the Champions League represents to him, the President said that “We started from a long way back, with a number of players who’d never won anything, but now we’re ready to move forward.”

Of what facing AC Milan in the semifinals represents, Zhang said that “It will be a chance for revenge, both for last season and for the history the clubs have.”

Regarding the team’s run-in for the season, he said that “Now every match is a final, regardless of the opponent.”

“In the league we have to do everything the same way we have been in the Champions League.”

And of his emotional reaction to Joaquin Correa’s goal against Benfica, Zhang said that “I’m very happy for him, he hasn’t scored in a long time – it was a great chance to show what he’s still capable of on the pitch.”
