Inter and Barcelona have reopened talks regarding a possible swap deal involving midfielders Marcelo Brozovic and Franck Kessie for the summer transfer window.

This according to Spanish news outlet Sport, via FCInter1908, who also reported that Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has inquired about the availability of Barcelona defenders, but that only Samuel Umtiti would likely constitute a realistic target.

It has been widely reported that Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio held a meeting with his Barcelona counterpart Mateu Alemany, and Sport has confirmed that one of the main sets of discussions between the two executives concerned Kessie and Brozovic.

In the case of Kessie, the Ivorian has been a target for Inter ever since he was an Atalanta player, and if they were able to sign him this summer they would certainly jump at the chance.

A lot will depend on the player’s decision, and Sport report that at the end of the season, Kessie and Barcelona coach Xavi will have a discussion regarding his future.

In any event, Inter would only be able to afford a deal for Kessie if it were be done in the form of a player exchange, and in this sense the possibility of offering Brozovic would be a key factor.

The Croat is a target for the Blaugranas, whilst the player would be potentially interested in making the move, although according to Sport he would have to accept a lowering of his wages in order to do so.

Meanwhile, Sport report that Ausilio asked Alemany about the availability of defenders currently out of favour at the Camp Nou, considering the fact that Inter are set to have to sign at least one or two defenders this summer.

According to the Spanish outlet, Umtiti would be a possibility for Inter, with the Frenchman currently on loan at Lecce.

However, Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia would not.

Meanwhile, Jordi Alba was offered to Inter according to Sport, although the 34-year-old’s high wages would almost certainly make such a move impossible.
