Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio feels that all of the criticism and controversy around the Nerazzurri are nothing new, as Inter are a club used to being on the end of attacks.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old noted that after being at the club for right around a decade, there is little that he hasn’t seen so the criticism that the team have received this season hasn’t phased him too much.

Inter have had to keep their focus this season despite the distraction of any number of criticisms and attacks in response to their performances.

These have ranged from rumours that coach Simone Inzaghi could well be sacked, to one or two suggestions that the squad are lacking focus and don’t take league matches seriously due to the contrast between their form in Serie A and the Champions League.

The expectations around the team and the stature of the club have meant that everyone seems to be under the microscope at all times.

Meanwhile, any number of situations from the dramatic contract saga of Milan Skriniar, the Slovakian’s subsequent injury problems, and the numerous injury struggles of Romelu Lukaku on his high-profile return to the club, to the constant rumours that owners Suning could sell Inter have added another layer.

For D’Ambrosio, however, this is nothing new.

The former Torino defender joined during January of 2014, and he has experienced no shortage of what it means to play for Inter, both the good and the bad.

“To tell the truth, I think that Inter have never gotten enough protection from all the attacks,” he argued.

“I’ve been here ten years and I’ve seen it all.”

“There are always reasons to attack the team, the club, and the coach,” he added.

“Anyone who’s been here for any amount of time has figured out what the atmosphere is like at Inter, so you just have to put your head down and work,” D’Ambrosio stressed.
