Inter secured their passage to the Coppa Italia final with a 1-0 win over Juventus at San Siro on Wednesday night.

Following on from their solid win away at Empoli on Sunday, the Nerazzuri made their way to the final to defend their crown thanks to a tidy finish from Federico DiMarco.

Here’s what we learned from a rare perfect week for Inter.

1) Hats Off To Federico Dimarco

When Federico Diarco was sent out on loan to Hellas Verona under Antonio Conte, it looked as if his chance to make it at Inter had come and gone.

A successful year and a half spell in the colours of Hellas led to him being given a chance back at his boyhood club and he hasn’t looked back since.

He has kept Robin Gosens, a player who at one point was the best in the league in his role, out of the side and established himself as a key first team player.

He’s Inter through and through and it is great to see him realising his boyhood dream.

2) Who’s Better Than Nicolo Barella?

A world class talent when at his best, it is hard to find a player in Italy who is as good as the ex-Cagliari player.

When looking across Europe in-fact, it isn’t clear to see many players who offer the combative all action side of Nicolo Barella.

With passion and grinta in abundance, Barella was comfortably the best player on the pitch for much of the vital win against Juve and is enjoying his best goal scoring season to boot.

Give him the armband in the summer.

3) Time To Be Starting With Rom

There simply isn’t an excuse now that he appears to be back to full fitness for not starting Romelu Lukaku every game.

Whilst he is a handy squad member, Edin Dzeko is now without a goal since January and Joaquin Correa simply flatters to deceive so Lukaku should be starting every match given that he is much more of a goal threat.

With his future seemingly very unclear and no indication of whether he will return to Inter this summer, it would also be excellent to see Romelu end his most recent spell with Inter with some silverware and some happy memories given that he was such a vital part of the Scudetto win two years ago.

4) Defensive Depth Must Be The Main Goal This Summer

We all know that Inter lack finance at the moment which begs the question of what market they’ll be targeting with their summer recruitments.

What is certain though is that Inter look dreadfully light at the moment with the current ageing defensive three that is having to do overtime with the absences of Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij.

Skriniar is a man they will now have to live without permanently given that he’s all but a PSG player and replacing him won’t come cheap.

The Italian media this week have claimed that Inter are looking at Union Berlin man Danilho Doekhi so it will be interesting to see if that comes to fruition.

5) Focus Now Switches To Lazio

With back to back wins achieved this week, the focus now turns to a home match with Lazio on Sunday.

Lazio remain in second as one of the sides currently occupying a spot that Inter want in the top four.

With the Laziali rather shockingly losing last weekend and their city rivals Roma also dropping points, Inter have crawled back some points so a win at the weekend could really give them belief that a place in the Champions League next year could be theirs.

Would top four, Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa give Inzaghi a job next year? I’m purposefully not including the Champions League in there either because we don’t want to jinx it..

Or do we dare to dream?

Whilst serious budgetary constraints must be taken into consideration, who do you feel is most likely to take the job and who would you want?
