Inter have agreed terms on a four-year deal with Club Brugge and Canadian national team wingback Tajon Buchanan for this summer, but will have to agree on a fee with his club before they can sign him.

This according to Italian news outlet Repubblica.it, who report that the Belgian club are demanding €20 million, whilst the Nerazzurri have put forward €15 million plus add-ons as they look to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Buchanan has emerged as a major target for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have identified the Canadian as a possible replacement for Denzel Dumfries should the Dutchman be sold during the summer window, as he is reported to be a target for incoming Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino.

A report from Belgian news outlet HLN earlier today suggested that Inter already have a verbal agreement with Buchanan’s club Brugge, although nothing official, and that the player himself is keen to make the switch.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio put the brakes on the rumours linking Inter and Buchanan, explaining that as he understands it, the player would be very open to the move but that there have been no concrete negotiations between Inter and Brugge as of yet.

According to La Repubblica, it is not only true that Buchanan would be receptive to a move to the Nerazzurri, but he has in fact already agreed terms on a prospective contract with the club, which would be for a four-year deal.

However, the 24-year-old, who Inter scouted at the World Cup with the Canadian national team in addition to Brugge, could well have other suitors, either Serie A rivals of Inter or teams from the Premier League.

For this reason, La Repubblica report that Inter do not want to get caught cold by any other teams trying to sign Buchanan and will try to get a deal done relatively quickly.

In order to do this, there would still be the matter of negotiating with Brugge.

According to La Repubblica, the Belgian giants have made their asking price of €20 million clear to Inter already, whilst the Nerazzurri are ready to put forward €15 million plus add-ons.

A deal for Buchanan would also almost certainly be conditional on Dumfries being sold.
