Juvetnus have called Inter to apologize for the angry outburst that coach Max Allegri made in the dressing rooms after Wednesday’s Coppa Italia clash between the two teams.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Bianconeri made the call to try and smooth over the tensions after their coach unexpectedly aimed remarks at Nerazzurri directors in the aftermath of the match.
Whilst Allegri had not immediately cut an angry figure in his comments to the media at the end of Wednesday’s match, it is reported that not long after entering the tunnel to the dressing rooms at the San Siro he lost his temper completely.
The 55-year-old is reported to have encountered Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin on his way to the Juventus dressing room, and he declared to the pair that “You’re sh*t and you’ll finish sixth anyway!”
According to the Gazzetta, there appeared to be little to provoke the outburst, which was unexpected by the two Nerazzurri directors.
The newspaper does not that there was some lingering anger from Allegri regarding the chaotic ending to the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal tie, particularly towards Baccin who had attempted to come onto the pitch after Romelu Lukaku’s controversial sending-off.
Moreover, the Gazzetta notes, the Bianconeri coach has appeared to be broadly on edge lately, with results not always consistent to turn up the pressure, and the lingering uncertainty about how the future of legal cases against the club could affect things on the pitch appearing to get to him.
In any event, the Corriere reports, the Juventus board has acted to try and ease any hard feelings that Allegri’s outburst may have left.
Bianconeri Chief Football Officer Francesco Calvo is reported to have made a phone call in which he personally aplogized for Allegri’s behaviour on behalf of the coach.
