Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has given Inter and AC Milan three months in which to give their response regarding new stadium plans.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Milan Mayor has set a deadline for the two clubs to give a response regarding the current lay of the land.

The uncertainty around the new stadium situation in Milan is set to keep dragging on for at least a little while longer.

The Gazzetta reports that, whilst the Rossoneri had been pushing ahead to try and start work on alternate plans to replacing the San Siro together with Inter, specifically in the form of the La Maura area, that idea has cooled down.

In recent meeting involving Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, the newspaper reports, obstacles have emerged to the La Maura that have made it appear less likely that that would be a viable location to the Rossoneri building a new stadium on their own.

However, what is equally certain is that the idea of both Inter and Milan building together in place of the existing San Siro looks very unlikely, given that the continued hurdles that that project has faced has left the Rossoneri out of patience, and made a path forward look very difficult.

In any event, the Gazzetta reports, Sala is hoping that there can be clarity regarding the two clubs’ intentions regarding the stadium situation within the next few months.

According to the newspaper, Milan Mayor Sala has set a deadline of three months within which time Inter and Milan are expected to give a final response as to what their plans are.

Neither of the two teams intend to stay in the current San Siro which is not felt to be sufficient for their needs in terms of infrastructure and revenues.
