Inter wingback Raoul Bellanova could start on the left for the Nerazzurri in this Wednesday’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona.

This according to Rome-based newspaper the Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the 22-year-old could be used on the left side in order to give Federico Dimarco a breather, with Robin Gosens set to miss the match through injury.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a bit of a selection headache on the left flank for Wednesday’s match against Verona.

Whilst the coach has frequently rotated between Dimarco and Gosens throughout the Nerazzurri’s packed recent fixture list, he will not have Gosens at his disposal to face the Rossoblu.

The German sustained a dislocated shoulder during yesterday evening’s Serie A win over Lazio, and as such Dimarco is the only positional specialist left-wingback who will be available for the match.

The 25-year-old had also started against Lazio yesterday afternoon, with Gosens having come on to replace him.

Given that the Nerazzurri have such a barrage of important matches on the way, including their run-in in the league, the two-legged Champions League semifinal against AC Milan, and the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina, Inzaghi will be very wary of overusing any of his key starters./

As such, the Corriere report that the coach could be disinclined towards starting Dimarco twice in the space of just a few days.

Given this, Inzaghi would necessarily have to make the surprise move of repurposing a player from a different position to fill in for Dimarco if he wishes to give the 25-year-old a rest.

In this sense, Bellanova would be a logical pick, as the 22-year-old plays out wide and has shown a fair bit of versatility in the past.

According to the Corriere, Inzaghi is seriously considering starting Bellanova on Wednesday.
