Bologna coach has downplayed the speculation about his future, and made clear that his main thoughts are on getting the best results possible with the Rossoblu.

Speaking in a press conference following his team’s 1-1 draw against Juventus yesterday evening, via FCInterNews, the 40-year-old put the brakes on talk of a potential meeting to discuss his future at Bologna amid links to Inter as well as other big clubs.

Motta only arrived at Bologna in the fall, taking over as coach from Sinisa Mihajlovic after the Serb’s illness forced him to step down.

However, in the time that he’s been at the club, the Emilians have gotten some outstanding results in the league, even pushing for a potential spot in European competition next season.

Yesterday’s draw against Juventus was hardly an ideal result in this respect, although it was in any event further evidence of how much good work Motta has been doing in Emilia-Romagna.

The Rossoblu had gotten one of their statement results of the season in February when they beat Inter at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, and the significance of a Treble-winning former Nerazzurri midfielder masterminding this result against his old team amid constant speculation about their current coach’s future was not lost on many.

Motta has been linked as one of Inter’s main candidates to potentially replace Inzaghi as early as this summer should the former Lazio coach be sacked.

In the meantime, the Bologna coach currently has a contract until the end of June 2024 with his club, although there have been reports that he could have a meeting in which the Rossoblu will attempt to extend this and secure his immediate future.

Asked about this, however, Motta said that “I’m just thinking about the present, and for us the present is Empoli.”

“It’s too bad that we couldn’t get a win against Juventus, but already in three days we have to be ready for another massive match,” he added.
